Where Stories Begin

I've always been drawn to what lives beneath the surface—the quiet truths that shape who we become. ​Writing has been my way of listening to those truths, tracing the spaces between what's said and what's felt, where transformation quietly begins. My stories explore those hidden tensions, where beauty and honesty meet, and the smallest choices change everything.​​

My full name, Sabrina Pearl Matheny, holds both my own story and the lineage that influenced me—"Pearl", for my great-grandmother, a woman remembered for her quiet strength and devotion. For much of my life, the name felt old-fashioned—something that belonged to another time. But like the Pearl, I've been shaped by the ocean of experience—polished by time, softened by challenge and refined by grace.

Including Pearl now in my author name, feels like a way to honor the women in my lineage and the larger story of women finding their voices. I was born into a generation that began to claim its power more openly, and I see my writing as part of that ongoing transformation—turning inherited silence into expression, and honoring the wisdom that grows through every generation.
